Video // Event Horses – ‘Dance With The Devil’

I love this. Belfast trio Event Horses strike me as the kind of band Biffo Clyro wanted to be before they gave up and became Snow Patrol: hard, loud, abrasive punk rock with throat-splitting transatlantic vocals and a thumping rhythm section.

I went on a mini twitter rant last night about the Dublin media’s almost total ignorance when it comes to heavy music, and metal in particular. However with a thriving DIY scene and great local magazines like AU about Belfast has had no trouble at all producing thriving local acts at the heavier end of the spectrum, with Derry label Smalltown America in particular bringing through the likes of And So I Watch You From Afar and LaFaro.

Event Horses sit very much down the LaFaro end of things – straightforward, raucous punk rock, with perhaps more of a DC hardcore tinge than their contemporaries. Their new EP, Dance with the Devil, is scheduled for release on July 11. It’s headed up by the track of the same name, and the cool lads night out/kidnapping in a forest video can be seen below.
