Too Famous To Get Fully Dressed

Ahhh, sandwiches!

Electric Picnic Line-Up // 2011

Update: The webpage has been taken down, and can anybody explain why I thought Stradbally was in Waterford? Truly bizarre.

The provisional music line-up for this summer’s Electric Picnic Festival in Stradbally, Co. Laois has been released via a development website. The festival is scheduled to take place from September 2-4.

It’s not surprise to see Arcade Fire returning for their now twice-annual bumper Irish payday, nor is a surprise to see the inclusion of a reformed Pulp, but there are some more interesting appearances down the pecking order.

The festival’s floundering dance cred will be given a boost by DJ Shadow and what I think is a first Irish date for Flying Lotus (see my review of his 2010 album Cosmogramma over at State.ie). Adebisi Shank and R.S.A.G. are the pick of the Irish acts and Mundy is always inexplicably popular with drunk/hungover students.

I’m not sure the line-up is anything to get worked up about, though, and it’s disappointing not to see a single Irish act given top or medium-billing, so I’m afraid my legendary absence from Irish festivals will continue for another summer at least.
