Drop-D presents… Cork Rock City

with one comment

Cork Rock City may not have the same ring to it as Detroit Rock City, or even Nottingham Rock City, but it does have something neither of those do: a brand new compilation from Rebel County-based DIY webzine Drop-D, to be released for free download on November 1.

Featuring the likes of I’ll Eat Your Face, For Ruin, Los Langeros and… well, I’ll be honest, I don’t really know many acts from Cork (though Rest are noticeably absent, I guess because they’ve been inactive) but that’s presumably what compilations like Cork Rock City are for. Other notable acts are a black metal band named after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s old club and the delightfully dirty-sounding Fingersmith. The teenager inside of me is giggling at the thought.

True, I could MySpace any of these acts right now, but it would ruin the fun of having the whole thing curated, and if the people behind the website are going to the effort of putting it together then it would be rude of me not to trust their judgment. Also… lazy.

Here’s the full tracklist via Thumped (but curiously not yet posted on Drop-D).
